Today I Believe...

  • It's okay to have several favorites of everything. Personally, I could never choose one color or movie or song because I change my mind every few minutes.
  • Setting 5 (or 8) alarms is acceptable.  Just make sure if you're going to sleep through them, you sleep alone or far away enough that you don't ruin someone else's sleep.
  • This right here:
  • Change jars are a great thing to have, especially if you work somewhere with a vending machine.  As an adult, snacks become your meals.
  • Just be a big kid and do things yourself.  You can't rely on other people to make things happen for you.
  • Forgiveness comes in a lot of very small, mostly painful steps, but if it's worth fixing, it's worth the work.
  • Sometimes you just have to cut it all off and start over. Literally.

Beautiful

I regularly check in on a blog called Little Things & Curiosities by Laura Marie.  Tonight, she posted this amazing entry about the magic of California, but I believe it kind of applies to wherever you're from (minus the redwoods, we don't have those here in Connecticut). Here's what she wrote, and I definitely recommend reading the rest of her blog posts if you enjoy this one.

"There's nothing quite like a long, lingering dinner, especially when you're sitting within a towering circle of redwoods, lights strung high above your heads, wine bottles filling the table, belly laughs leaving you doubled over for what feels like hours on end. There's nothing like jaunty, back-and-forth conversation filled with life's greatest meanings and most offensive, ridiculous jokes. There's nothing like dessert, and there's nothing — absolutely nothing — like almost-summer, that in-between season marked by lukewarm nights that remind you of childhood and fireflies, s'mores and flashlight tag."
